Product Review Omega 3 Foods Sources

Product Review Omega 3 Foods Sources

The first product and Omega 3 source I would like to introduce and review is Chia.

It is one of the most powerful Omega 3 foods sources because it has a high content of it as you can see in the “Nutrition Facts”. It is indicated for vegetarians and vegans.

You can add it nearly everywhere in your dishes. I use it personally in my yogurt with fresh fruits together with flax seeds. It is also nice to add it to soups, fresh salads, smoothies and energetic drinks.

Chia Seeds are an ancient food from Mexico. In the old Aztek language Nahuatl, it literally means “oily”. They contain about 40% chia oil, 20% proteins, and 40% carbohydrates. The Aztek used it in their beverages and also dried. If added to liquids like smoothies, after a time, the seeds develop a gel-like film, which makes it easier for our intestine to make the digestion.

We need to be sure to choose the right manufacturer which is producing them without any pesticides and additional chemicals.

It is important to know where our food comes from

I have made a recompilation of, in my opinion, the best three products currently available

The best seller is 2 pounds because you get more for less! If it wasn´t cheaper, you would perfectly do with 1 pound to try it.

Don´t hesitate, the shelf life of the product is about 2 years if you store it in a dry and dark place.

The manufacturer even recommends some tasty dishes where you can add the chia seeds, smoothies, beverages, yogurt, cereals, oatmeal,  and soups. We can even add the seeds to our baking mixture to make some delicious cakes.

Now we will have a look at another good supplement of Omega 3,  fish oil…

The fish oil is a very good source of Omega 3 because with two capsules you can cover your daily recommended quantity. Fish oil is gained from salmon, and we need to ensure ourselves to buy a quality salmon fish oil.

Product: Dr. Tobias Omega 3 Fish Oil Triple Strength 180 CapsOmega 3 Foods Sources

Price: $28.64 USD

Cheapest Place To Buy:

Overall Rank: 4.5/5.0

You get 180 capsules which mean that if you take 2 capsules a day you have enough for 3 months.

This fish oil is the best seller at because it is of high quality and the price is fair for what you get. They have a special treatment which is called molecular distillation which means that they take out possible mercury and heavy metals from the oil to ensure absolute purity and safety for consumers.

Omega 3 Foods Sources

  1. 2 grams of Omega 3 in two soft gels
  2. 20 calories per serving
  3. no sugar
  4. no protein, it is pure oil

The product is third-party tested, that means that the manufacturer contracted another company to certify, and test the Omega 3 for purity and quality. It is an additional positive point in our ranking, we can trust that it is really a high-quality product.

I give it a high ranking because it really meets all the needs we are looking for, and the price-quality relationship is also pretty fair.

Omega 3 Foods Sources

Product: Nature Made Burp-less Fish Oil, 1000 Mg, 300 mg Omega-3, 150 Liquid Softgels

Price: $7.51 USD

Cheapest Place To Buy:

Overall Rank: 3.5/5.0

This fish oil is much cheaper than the other ones, but why? We get nearly the same quantity of capsules for three times less the price of other products. At first glance, it seems to be a perfect fish oil, but…

Omega 3 Foods Sourcesif we have a closer look at the supplement facts, we find out that it has 20 mg of Cholesterol in a serving of 2 soft gels, that is the reason why it is so cheap. Nevertheless, we need to say that this fish oil is not bad, or not safe, the cholesterol quantity is very low, but it is not the best quality product. Even though the manufacturer indicates that the fish is not farm fed, it is made of sardines and other fishes, which are not salmon. We need to be really careful before we buy every kind of product and have a deep look at the supplement facts.

Omega 3 Foods Sources

Product:Nordic Naturals – Ultimate Omega, Support for a Healthy Heart, 180 Soft Gels 1000 mg

Price: $59.02 USD

Cheapest Place To Buy:

Overall Rank: 4.5/5.0

This Omega 3 fish oil is produced of sardines and anchovies. This manufacturer is not using salmon in his Omega 3 Foods Sourcesprocess. This is not so bad, the only problem is that it adds 0.1 gram of saturated fat in 2 soft gels, and this is what we want to avoid. The producer makes a statement in the supplement facts that there is less than 5 mg of cholesterol per serving. The cholesterol is the saturated fat which we don´t need at all. The overall ranking is pretty good because there are only 20 calories per serving of two soft gels, the other products had about 60 calories. The Omega 3 content is 2.0 gram per serving which is pretty high.

Personally, my favourite food source of Omega 3 are the Chia Seeds from Viva Labs and the fish oil from Dr. Tobias, because the price quality relationship is the best.

This is all for now, I hope you have enjoyed this product review of Omega 3 and that you have learned something more about supplement fact and how to detect the important things that we need to have a look at. If you have any questions, leave a comment below and I will answer them as soon as I can.

Ciao Ciao

  1. Hi Simon, thank you for the nice article. Omega acids are very important and often overlooked part of our diets! I especially love the fact that you are promoting them in their natural form! I am a great believer in chia seeds! Chia pudding made with coconut or almond milk and topped with fresh berries is one of my favorites!
